THE STANDARD

What Does Expert-Reviewed Mean?

When a page shows a "CERT Expert Reviewed by..." line, it means a credentialed professional with relevant expertise has checked the content against current standards, flagged unclear or risky language, and suggested edits so the piece is accurate and appropriate for the intended audience.

Validation, Not Endorsement

Expert reviewers don't rewrite articles or act as copywriters. They apply professional judgment to ensure accuracy, not to make content more promotional.

Credential-Matched to Topic

We match the credential to the subject. A physician reviews health content. A CPA reviews finance content. The key is fit: relevant expertise for every topic.

Documented Accountability

Each review creates a time-stamped audit trail. Your name is connected only to the version you saw and approved, not to untracked edits made later.

Your Personal Perspective Block

In addition to fact-checking and light edits, CertREV asks each expert to contribute a short personal perspective, usually 1-3 lines. This might be a brief clinical observation, a pattern you see in practice, a "what I tell my patients/clients" note, or a grounded caution. That small human detail helps readers see how guidance plays out in real life, providing concrete examples of lived experience, not just textbook theory.

YOUR WORKFLOW

The 4-Step Review Process

While brands experience CertREV as a "full-service credibility layer," your path as an expert is straightforward.

1

Accept a Brief

You're matched to topics that align with your credentials and declared specialties. You receive a Google Doc with pre-fact-checked content and suggestion access.

  • • Topic matched to your expertise
  • • Draft already pre-validated for basic research
  • • Clear deadline and scope
2

Systematically Review

Work through each paragraph, performing a focused professional check. Approve or reject flagged claims, flag risky or confusing language, and optionally add comments or suggested edits in Google's "Suggesting" mode.

  • • Is the information accurate and current?
  • • Are crucial risks or caveats missing?
  • • Is language clear and appropriate for non-experts?
  • • Are sources reputable and supporting the claims?
3

Add Your Perspective

Contribute 1-3 lines of real-world perspective that will appear with your reviewer credit. This should be grounded in your experience, first person, neutral in tone, and free of brand or product endorsement.

  • • A pattern you see in practice
  • • A "what I tell my patients/clients" note
  • • A grounded caution or clarification
4

Submit Your Review

Ensure the draft is ready for sign-off from your perspective and notify us. Once you approve, CertREV handles the technical implementation (schema, audit hash, etc.).

Compensated per review with no social media or spokesperson obligations.

YOUR PROTECTIONS

How CertREV Protects You

We built CertREV so experts can contribute meaningfully without feeling like they're taking on open-ended liability for someone else's marketing.

Educational Content, Not Individual Advice

The content you review is educational, not individual diagnosis, treatment, financial, or legal advice. We build in disclaimers that make this clear to readers. Your perspective helps people understand concepts, not what they personally should do next.

Brand Is Publisher of Record

You are not "co-signing" their entire website or product line. You're validating a specific page at a specific point in time. The brand remains responsible for how they use, update, and present the content.

Post-Edit Protection

If a brand significantly changes a page after your review, they're required to remove your attribution or send it back for re-review. Each approved version is hashed and logged, so there's a clear record of what you actually reviewed.

Reviewer, Not Endorser

You contribute independent judgment, not endorsements saying a product, service, or company is "the best." We explicitly avoid language that reads like promotion. Your perspective block is framed as general insight, not a testimonial.

You Control Your Scope

You only accept briefs that fit your training and experience. You can decline any assignment that feels outside your lane, too speculative, or misaligned with your professional standards.

VISIBLE TRUST

How Your Review Appears to Readers

From a reader's perspective, there are clear signals that a page went through CertREV's process.

Visible Expert Credit

A "CERT Expert Reviewed by [Name], [Credentials]" line appears near the author byline or at the top/bottom of the article.

Credentials Next to Name

Degrees, licenses, or certifications (MD, RD, CPA, JD, etc.) that clearly relate to the topic are displayed.

Review Date

A "Last reviewed on..." date tells readers when the expert last validated the information.

Reviewer Details

A short bio and profile link explaining your background, current role, and areas of expertise.

Behind the scenes: Each reviewed article also carries machine-readable schema and an audit hash. But humans mostly encounter the visible reviewer block and date. These are the elements that carry your name into the world, so we design them to be accurate, respectful, and clear about your role.

GOOD TO KNOW

Limitations & FAQ

What Expert Review Cannot Do

Even the strongest review has boundaries. It's important to understand what expert-reviewed content can and cannot do.

  • Not individual advice. Articles are educational overviews. They cannot replace a personal visit with a professional who knows someone's specific history.
  • Not peer-reviewed research. A reviewed article may summarize studies, but it is not itself original research with the higher bar of scientific peer review.
  • Cannot remove all bias or uncertainty. Professional judgment involves interpretation. Different experts may weigh certain studies differently.
  • Does not make you publisher of record. The brand remains responsible for how they use and present the content.
